Between Gods and Animals is a print and web magazine. Issues are released quarterly accompanied by limited edition copies with interactive hard covers. Print circulation of the first issue starting with online pre-order availability and limited editions through local NYC stockists. The first issue, They Only Pretend to be Sheep, is a photo journal with themes of purity cults, American nostalgia, and the animalistic attachments between girls. A remark on how women are either enshrined as martyrs or hunted to extinction, this print issue will feature articles, photo essays, and interviews.

How to format pitch submissions

Writing:
To be considered for an article submission we ask that you attach a pitch as well as a writing sample.
Pitches should be attached to email in PDF format. Write 1-2 paragraphs titled in the following format: (“WRITING PITCH” - FIRST NAME, LAST NAME). Writing samples should be titled in the following format: (“WRITING SAMPLE” YOUR TITLE HERE - FIRST NAME, LAST NAME)
Photography:
To be considered for a photo submission/assignment we ask that you send an email attaching a pitch as well as a photo sample. Please clarify whether you are submitting to be given an assignment or submitting personal work for publishing. We ask that you read about the visual themes of the magazine before submitting and make sure that your work is representative of the magazine’s visual goals.
In your email please include in the body: 1-2 paragraphs introducing yourself and your work as well as your pitch for assignment or artist statement describing your work for submission. For both assignment/publishing submissions please include a folder with 3-10 high quality images of your work that aligns with the magazine’s visuals. Subject lines should be titled in the following format: (“PHOTO PITCH” - FIRST NAME, LAST NAME) If you have any socials or websites you would like to attach please do so.
Fashion collaborations:
For fashion brand collaborations please submit a folder with relevant collections/pieces, a link to your shop and socials. Format your email subject in the following: (BRAND COLLAB - “YOUR BRAND NAME)
For stylist collaborations please attach a folder with 3-10 images of styling work as well as a short body paragraph about yourself including your location. socials and availability. Format your email subject in the following: (STYLING COLLAB - FIRST NAME, LAST NAME)
